Septic System Design

Onsite wastewater systems for properties beyond the reach of a sewer line — designed and permitted to Utah standards.

If your property isn't on a municipal sewer, wastewater is handled onsite — and that system has to be designed and permitted to protect groundwater and public health. I handle onsite wastewater design from the first soil test through final construction sign-off.

Looking for an inspection on an existing system instead? See Septic System Inspections.

Selected work

Design of numerous pressurized and unpressurized onsite wastewater systems, and a subdivision-scale septic feasibility study with site plans.

What I provide

  • Site and soil evaluation — soil profile and percolation testing to size the system correctly
  • System design — conventional drainfields, plus alternative systems (ATUs, mound, and drip) where soils or space require them
  • Subdivision septic feasibility assessments — soil and site evaluation to determine buildable lot counts before you subdivide
  • Permitting with your local health department and the Utah Division of Water Quality (R317-4)
  • Construction observation and final inspection
  • Repair and replacement design for failing systems

When you need it

  • Building a new home or structure on unsewered land
  • Subdividing a parcel and need septic feasibility confirmed before you commit
  • A system that's backing up, surfacing, or failing

Working in Kane County

Southern Utah soils, slopes, and lot sizes vary widely — a design that works on one parcel can be wrong for the one next door. As a licensed PE, I match the system to your ground and carry it through the local approval process.
